Software Engineering Manager

The Role and Team

As Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team building critical components of our SaaS platform, balancing execution speed with technical excellence. You'll provide hands-on technical guidance, build scalable systems, and help your team thrive in an environment that's growing quickly and changing fast.

You'll work closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering leaders to deliver features that delight customers, while also laying the groundwork for scale: from architecture to hiring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of high-performing software engineers, helping them grow in capability and confidence.

  • Collaborate with Product and Design to define and deliver against ambitious roadmaps.

  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability, performance, and technical debt management.

  • Drive engineering best practices: CI/CD, code quality, observability, and operational excellence.

  • Contribute to architectural design decisions as we scale globally and support increasing customer demand.

  • Actively recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent as we grow the team.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong focus on product impact.

  • Occasionally roll up your sleeves and dive into technical discussions or code when needed.

Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years managing or leading teams in a product-driven environment.

  • Proven experience scaling SaaS platforms (ideally in B2B or multi-tenant environments).

  • Strong technical foundation in modern languages and frameworks (e.g. Node.js, TypeScript, Go, Python, Java).

  • Experience designing and maintaining cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at bringing clarity and direction.

Head of Data Engineering

The Goal:

Build and lead the data engineering function that underpins a company-wide analytics and AI strategy: creating scalable, high-quality data infrastructure that powers insight, automation, and smarter decision-making across every part of the business.

The Role:

As Head of Data Engineering, you'll take ownership of designing, implementing, and evolving a modern data platform in the Azure ecosystem. You'll lead the delivery of robust data pipelines, optimise data architecture for analytics and machine learning, and ensure data is accessible, secure, and high-performing. This is a hands-on leadership role and is ideal for someone who wants to shape data strategy and stay close to the technology.

The Team:

You'll work closely with the CTO, Head of Analytics, and a talented team of Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Data Analysts. You'll also collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed data-driven thinking into everything the business does.

You:

  • 6-10+ years' experience in data engineering or data architecture roles, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or senior technical capacity.

  • Deep experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Data Lake architecture.

  • Proven ability to design and manage scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows.

  • Advanced SQL and intermediate knowledge of Python for data transformation and automation.

  • Experience leading teams and mentoring engineers.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data governance, and cloud data infrastructure best practices.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills: comfortable working with both business and technical leaders.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Databricks, Synapse, or Power BI integration.

  • Experience scaling data platforms in a growth or scale-up environment.

  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines or real-time data processing (e.g. Kafka, Event Hub).

Lead AI Engineer

The Goal:

Shape and deliver the company's AI strategy: designing, building, and deploying machine learning and generative AI solutions that transform how the business operates and makes decisions.

The Role:

As Lead AI Engineer, you'll take ownership of the full AI lifecycle from proof of concept to production deployment. You'll design scalable ML and GenAI systems in the Azure ecosystem, build reusable frameworks for model training and deployment, and ensure that AI is safely and effectively embedded across products and internal tools. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll both architect solutions and mentor a growing team of data scientists and ML engineers.

The Team:

You'll work closely with the Head of Data Engineering, Head of Analytics, and Product Engineering teams. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across product, operations, and strategy to identify high-impact AI opportunities and bring them to life.

You:

  • 6-10+ years' experience in applied AI, ML engineering, or data science roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience building and deploying models using Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, and Azure ML.

  • Experience developing end-to-end ML pipelines: data ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Proven experience in LLM integration, fine-tuning, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.

  • Solid grounding in MLOps practices using Azure DevOps, Databricks, or similar.

  • Strong SQL and Azure Data Factory experience for data sourcing and preparation.

  • Excellent communication skills: able to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading small AI or data science teams.

  • Familiarity with LangChain, OpenAI API, or Azure OpenAI Services.

  • Exposure to vector databases, prompt engineering, and AI governance frameworks.

  • Prior experience in a scale-up or innovation-driven environment where experimentation and delivery coexist.
